Coronavirus Lockdown - 3 Steps to Staying Sane!

Some of the biggest struggles I've noticed during the coronavirus lockdown are folks feeling low, hopeless and anxious. I see you struggling with negative feelings, with feelings of uncertainly, trapped and unsure of the world we'll walk out into afterwards.

When all this first kicked off, I too felt hopeless and got real down about it all too. Left unchecked, these feelings can quickly spiral into something truly damaging to health. We all know when stress levels rise our immune system suffers, opening us up to illness. But what can you do to stay sane during the coronavirus lockdown? How can you stop these negative thoughts and feelings?

I'm sharing with you the steps I've taken to blocking out the doom and gloom to save my sanity during these dark times. Perhaps, they'll help and inspire you too.

3 Easy Steps to Restore Sanity During Coronavirus Lockdown

Now, this may sound a bit radical or "crazy". BUT this stuff really works. Three of the BEST things I have done to restore my sense of well-being during this lock-down are;

  • Switch off the TV - (actually, I haven't owned one in 6 years, so it's been off a while)
  • Get off Facebook and any other social media (except insta... my insta is full of yummy food and curly hair so it's pretty chill). Business social media is necessary evil.
  • Only glance at the "news" occasionally just to see what the current official story is. Just to know where the general public is at.

Hold up... did she just say get OFF FACEBOOK and switch off the telebox??? Yes, yes I did. Honestly, if saving your sanity is the goal, TV and FB have to go. It is NOT as difficult as you might think either. Not once in 4 weeks have I missed fakebook. Only returning, begrudgingly, for business. Posted what I had to off got out of there. When I find someone to manage my social media, I'll gladly wash my hands of Facebook. Applicants on a postcard =)

Just these three steps alone have made a MASSIVE positive impact on my sanity. There is a lot of fear going around and immersing yourself in through constant watching, listening is engaging with it. Refuse to give your energy to fear. Fear makes us sick, mind, body and soul. And the best thing you can do, right now, is lose the fear. This is easy to achieve when you plug out from fear all together. Switching off and unplugging is by far the best thing I have done for myself. It's also given me the space to think about life and do things!

Summary:

  • Get off Facebook
  • Significantly limit time or stop spending time on social media
  • Switch off the TV
  • Glance at news occasionally as required
  • Unplug and lose the fear

Once you have plugged out and switched off, your head clears. You gain a sense of clairity. Next, you can hold space to think about your life. Are you happy? Truly happy? How's your health? Where do you want be? What do you want out of life? Think as big as you dare. Write that shit down too.

NOW is the time to get to doing whatever it is you want to achieve. Rather than sitting down worrying about things outside of your control, take the reins of what you can control. And you control A LOT. More than you think. You control your thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions. 100% of the time.

So whether you want to get happier, healthier, change your entire career path. Now is the time to make steps towards achieving that in any way you can.

Half the battle is your mindset. You will need to change your perspective to one already being where you want to be. Start educating yourself, take an online course, study the books. Do whatever you have to to start doing what you want to do. To live life in a different way, you will have to do things you've never done before. Whilst you are at home, you may as well use the time wisely eh.

Summary:

  • Look at your life and ask yourself what you really want
  • Set goals
  • Take action to achieve your goals
  • Take control of your life and emotions
  • Adopt the mindset of having achieved the goal
  • Study, read, educate yourself
